Sonic the Hedgehog Redesign is Here!

A few months ago, a trailer came out for “Sonic The Hedgehog.” Almost immediately, it received backlash. Mainly because of the title character’s design.

The movie would have came out this month if it were not for the backlash, but director Jeff Fowler and the team behind the film decided to rework Sonic’s look. This pushed back the release to Valentine’s Day next year.

Yesterday, we finally got a look at the redesign. I have to say, I’m impressed!

I wasn’t a fan of the first trailer. Sonic looked really off. Taking a character who is typically animated and putting them into a live action world obviously will bear changes on their design. That being said, I still felt that the first design looked awkward.

This new trailer though, I’m on board with it. I think the filmmakers found the sweet spot.

Sonic looks great! He has the classic style we all know from the original Sega Genesis game while still having an updated look for the big screen.

I was impressed with the other aspects of the trailer too! I trust where they are going with the plot of this film a little more now. A few different moments from the trailer made me laugh too. This movie could end up being really funny!

Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik has my curiosity too. I feel like it’s been forever since we’ve seen him in a big movie, and this seems like an odd role for him to take. I think he is going to breath new life into the Sonic villain.

Ben Schwartz is a perfect choice for Sonic as well. His voice sounds very much like the ones I grew up hearing in the Sonic games and cartoon series.

It’s also pretty cool they are incorporating rings into this film. A huge one is on the poster!! They were a big part of the game so I can’t wait to see how they will fill out the plot!

My excitement for “Sonic the Hedgehog” is now much higher!! Here’s to hoping we get a great movie about the video game icon!
