Animal Crossing is Back and Better than Ever!!!

“Animal Crossing.” What an oddly great game series, right?

I say oddly, because I feel like in a lot of ways it’s a game I should’t like. But for some reason, it’s so easy to get engulfed into.

I didn’t really get into the series until about 4 years ago when I bought “Animal Crossing: New Leaf” for the Nintendo 3DS.  After buying that game, I saw what I was missing.

So when “Animal Crossing: New Horizons” for Nintendo Switch was announced, you bet I was excited!

Over the weekend, I bought the game. I have to say, I’m really impressed.

So far, this game has improved upon everything I wanted it to improve on. When “Super Smash Brothers Ultimate” came out, I think a lot of us thought it was about as complete as a Smash Bros game could get.  I  feel that way about Animal Crossing’s latest entry too.

I haven’t gotten very far into the game yet, but I already love building a community from scratch on a deserted island.  In previous “Animal Crossing” titles, the town you moved to was already established.  The idea of the player creating the town only adds to the imagination and possibilities of the game. Great move, Nintendo!

The crafting feature, Nook Miles, and new items are all really welcome additions as well!  I can’t really describe how satisfying crafting something is.

“Animal Crossing” has always been a game you can shut your brain off to while playing as well.  “New Horizons” is no different.  I think this game got released at the perfect time.  With everything going on in the world it’s nice to play something so calm. And you can play it at home of course!

I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface of what this game is.  As time goes on, I’m sure I’ll discover more secrets and fun that are held within “New Horizons.” This game is going to withhold my attention for a long time, just like “New Leaf” did!
