February 17th, 2021 is Random Acts of Kindness Day. It got me thinking about the time I was the recipient of a random act of kindness.
It happened a couple summers ago. I was heading home after working a long, hot day at the Iowa State Fair. I stopped at a Kum & Go for a fountain drink. Before entering the store, I held the door for a delivery driver that was doing his best to manhandle a full hand truck. He said, “Thank you,” and we both went about our business.
When I got to the register to pay for my drink the cashier told me, “Your drink is on me today. I appreciated how you were nice and held the door for the delivery driver.”
That made my day and is an experience I’ll never forget.
